Government Is Disgusted
—HON. P. a WEBB
r Per Press Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day. Strong censure on whatever party was' responsible for the serious holdup on the Wellington waterfront, which developed yesterday and still continues as a result of the alleged goslow tactics adopted by waterside workers, was passed 1 by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb.
“The Government is positively disgusted with the turn of events on the waterfront, and whoever is responsible cannot expect any sympathy or consideration from the Government,” said Mr. Webb.
“We hoped, when we called the conference, to create a better spirit in the whole working on the waterfront, and, with the possible exception of Wellington, I feel safe in saying that a better spirit does prevail. “What has happened in Wellington is difficult for mo to ascertain, but the Government is compelled, under the circumstances, to take a serious view of the situation, and is determined that these hold-ups shall stop.”
