Mrs A. K. McFarlane, Beach House, Milford, is spending a fortnight’s holiday in Northland as the guest of Mrs E. G. Aicken, Paparoa.

The appointment of Messrs. C. Milner, A. Rowling and C. Skinner as members of the Cawthron Trust Board was gazetted last night.

Mr R. M. Gausted, of the Labour Department, Wellington, is to be the chief clerk at the Social Security Office in the Whangarei district, and Mr T. R. Vedwell, ( of the Public Trust Office, Wellington, is to be senior clerk.

The death occurred of Mr William Barclay, .of Huntly; Government inspector of mines. Born at Kaitangata, South Island, in 1879, he was the son of the late Mr Thomas Barclay, who was manager of the Kaitangata and Castle Hill colliery.
