District Stock Sales; Wakelin Report

Walter Wakelin reports having held stock sales at Riponui, Whakapara and Kamo, and also a pig sale at Tangowhahine during this week. Small yardings came forward at each sale, and the markets generally were very quiet, except for boner stock, which was in keen demand.
Whakapara values: Fat cows. £3 15/ to £5: forward cows £3 5/ to'£3 12/6; boner' cows, £1 10/ to £3 6/; boner bulls £2 10/ to £6 10/; Jersey heifer calves, £1 1/ to £1 10/; Jersey heifers (18 months) to £2 12/; dairy cows £3 10/ to £5 10/.
Kamo quotations: Fat cows, £5 9/ to £6 7/; light fat cows, £3 to £4; heavy boner cows, £3 5/ to £3 15/; medium boner cows, £2 15/ to £3 3/; light boner cows, £1 to £2 5/; boner bulls. £4 to £8; cows and calves. £2 to £5; 18 months S. H. steers to £3 10/; 2-year S. H. steers to £4 5/; 3-year coloured steers in fresh condition £5; S. H. steer calves £1 12/; m.s. calves, £1 8/; Jersey heifer calves, £1 to £2; dairy cows and heifers close to profit, £4 1/ to £7 7/; backward cows and heifers £3 to £5; Jersey heifers r.w.b,, £3 12/6 to £5 5/.
