Eupatorium Unrecognised In Far North
Eupatorium is practically an unrecognised weed in Whangaroa county. When a letter was received at yesterday’s meeting of the Whangaroa County Council from the North Auckland Forest Society suggesting that, as had already been done in other counties, eupatorium should be declared a noxious weed, several members confessed that they could not recognise the weed. “It’s all over the place and should be eradicated,” said the chairman. Mr T. H. Hayes. Noxious weeds had a strong hold in the county, he said. Settlement Only Cure,
“Settlement is the only way in which noxious weeds can be eradicated in the North,” said Mr E. F. Connolly. The council decided to take no action in the meantime, but the question of declaring eupatorium a noxious weed is to be kept in mind for future consideration.
