Maoris Urge Perpetuation Of Bishopric Of Aotearoa
At Ngararatunua on Sunday, an illuminated address from the Ngapuhi was presented to Archbishop Averill. It paid tribute to the Archbishop on the eve of his retirement, and urged him to perpetuate to posterity the office of the Bishop of Aotearoa.
Referring to the address. Archbishop Averill said that he was responsible for creating the office of Bishop of Aotearoa. Things had changed since then, however, and it was for the future to make the office of Bishop of Aotearoa a real one.
