Mr J. T. B. Taaffe has returned to Kaitaia after spending some weeks in Auckland.
Mr Duncan McLennan, of King Street, Whangarei, has been appointed judge of the dancing events at the Otorohanga sports, to be held on Easter Saturday and Monday.
Mr Charlie White, Maori All Black Rugby football player, and a Northland Rugby representative, will this year be playing League for the Mount Albert Club, Auckland.
The de'ath has occurred in Christchurch of Mr John McNair, aged 64, who retired from the position of Railway Department District Engineer at Christchurch last year.
Mr E. B. Glanville, instructor to the Department of Agriculture, Whangaref, is engaged in a lecturing tour of Young Farmers’ Clubs in the North. Mr Glanville is dealing with agricultural subjects, and is illustrating his lecture with lantern slides.
After 27 years’ service with the department, Mr W. Slaughter, officer in charge of the Labour Department in Auckland, is to retire from the end of April, as-he will then have reached the age limit. He is to be granted three months’ retiring leave from May 1 before going on superannuation. His departure will be regretted by both employers and employed.
The death ha soccurred of Robert Cunningham, .actor and vocalist, at the age of 73, states a London message. He was born in Hobart, Tasmania, and prior to adopting the stage as ,a profession, was engaged in the wool trade and finance. He came to England in 1889, studied singing under William Shakespeare .and Herman Clein, and two years later made his first stage appearance.
