More Buildings For Government Depts.
Ever widening and increasing activities of the Public Works Departments in Northland have necessitated expansion in office accommodation at the headquarters of the district in Whangarei.
The office is situated in the Public Trust building, which formerlyhoused the majority of the Government departments in Whangarei, but the need for more office space by the Public Works Department has meant that, the department Was gradually taken more and more of the building, and other departments have had to move to other premises. This week the Native Department and the Valuation Department have vacated the building >and are now in Schon’s building at the corner of Vine Street and Bank Street, the Public Works Department taking the vacated space.
