Whangarei Hospital Sisters Get Better Pay

General increases in salaries paid to sisters were decided on by the Whangarei Hospital Board yesterday, when a review of salaries took place. “I ,am not satisfied with conditions at the annexe,” commented Mr A. J. McKay.

“I do not think we are giving a fair deal to the staff or the public in this department.” Mr McKay suggested that the junior annexe sister’s salary be increased to £l5O.

“It is very hard work, and I support this suggestion,” said Mrs V. Donaldson. “The junior sister in the annexe has to take charge sometimes, and must shoulder full responsibility.”

“We need as good a sister here as the Auckland Hospital does,” remarked Mr H. L. Younger. The board is still in need of another ? unior sister.
