Beneficial Rain In Bay Of Islands
Kerikeri’s first beneficial rain since early in February fell during the week-end.
A fairly heavy shower was experienced about 10 a.m. on Sunday, followed by a further fall late in the afternoon, and steady rain during the night. The fall for the week-end up to 9 a.m. yesterday was .32 inch. The last satisfactory rain in the district fell on February 5, but since then farms and citrus plantations have been suffering from almost continuous dry weather. Records taken by Mr P. Harris, “Ramote,” Kerikeri, show that several very light showers have fallen j since the beginning of this month, |but all have been so light as to pass 1 almost unnoticed .and to have little ! beneficent effect on parched pastures.
Although in most pars of he district conditions were cold this weekend. Kerikeri’s was a warm rain, the coldest temperature on Sunday night being CO degrees at grass level.
