Kamo Figures In Close Match At Kauri
Sets were eight all when Kamo Tennis Club met Kauri, in a friendly match. Kauri winning on the games 87 to 80.
Scores, with Kauri players mentioned first, were:— Ladies’ singles—Miss J. Ayton lost to Miss Hooper, 2-7; Miss D. Ayton lost to Mrs. Frew, 1-7; Miss S. Jones beat Miss Bolton, 7-5; Miss R. Bell lost to Mrs. Matthews, 6-7. Men’s singles—J. Peat beat L. Thorburn, 7-3; F. While lost to C. Kerr, 57; R. Johnson beat E. Thorburn, 7-2; C. Bell beat J. Frew, 7-4.
Ladies’ Doubles —Misses J. Ayton and R. Bell lost to Miss Hooper and Mrs. Frew, 6-7; Misses D. Ayton and S. Jones lost to Miss Bolton and Mrs. Bolton, 1-7.
Men’s doubles—J. Peat and F. White beat L. Thorburn and C. Kerr, 7-5; R. Johnson and C. Bell beat E. Thorburn and J. Frey, 7-4.
Gombihes—J. Peat and Miss J. Ayton lost to L. Thorburn and Miss Hooper, 5-7; F. White and Miss D.' Ayton lost to C. Kerr and Mrs. Frew, 5-7; R. Johnson and Miss S. Jones beat E. Thorburn and Miss Bolton, 7-1; C. Bell and Miss R. Bell beat J. Frew and Mrs. Matthews, 7-3. The results of the games were 87 to Kauri and 8 Oto Kamo.
