Terrorism Resumed In Palestine; Troops Stand By Everywhere

LONDON, February 28.
'TROOPS ARE STANDING BY THROUGHOUT PALESTINE FOLLOWING A RE-OUTBREAK OF TERRORISM. AIRCRAFT, CO-OPERATING WI TH SOLDIERS, ENGAGED A LARGE ARAB BAND ON THE MAIN ACRE- SAFAD ROAD, NINE WERE KILLED, Jews are holding demonstrations in all parts of the counrty protesting against the British plan . A number of revisionists were arrested. . Street meetings have been forbid den. The Jewish mayor .at Tel-aviv appealed for discipline and deplored outrages. He said they were attributable to “irresponsible, consciousless elements.”
■O' The council of the Jerusalem Jewish community telegraphed to Mr MacDonald declaring that it will determinedly combat any proposals contrary to British wartime promises. Jerusalem Shops Closed. All shops in Jerusalem have been closed, and transport is inactive as the result of .a partial Arab strike. Arabs raided an outlying Jewish farmstead, and shot dead a mother and son, wounded another and carried off an 8-year-old boy, who was stabbed to death when the supernumeries pursued them. British Official Kidnapped. Arabs kidnapped Mr Head, chief British forestry officer in Transjordan. They escaped across the Syrian border, holding him to ransom. Hundreds of Bedouins and squads of the Arab Legion, mounted on camels, overtook and engaged an armed party of 60 Arabs on the Syrian border, and rescued Mr Head, unharmed.
