The two most interesting events of the afternoon at the Plunket Society’s garden party were parades given by the Women’s Institutes and Plunket Society. The Institute members were dressed in housemaid frocks, wearing colanders and dishes for hats, and different kitchen utensils hanging from their belts, hats and even their ears. The Plunket parade featured mothers and their children.
During the afternoon Mr Shaw referred to the departure of Mrs Savage, who for the past two years had been the secretary of the Plunket Society. Mr Guy also spoke on the good work that Mrs Savage had done. He presented her with a dainty tea and coffee set from the Plunket Society. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn by the committees of both societies.
Among those present were Messrs H. E. Guy, W. Shaw, Wilson, Savage, C. Blow and G. E. S. Brodie; Mesdames Guy, Robertson. Thorpe, P. M. Williams, S. G.
