Cookson, formerly lady superintendent of the Wellington Hospital and matron of the Whangarei Public Hospital! Miss Cookson Iras acquired a property at Whau- Valley, adjoining that of Mr A. E. S. Cookson, and intends retiring in Whangarei. Mr Freeman, who came North with his family after attending the Civil Engineers’ Conference at Auckland, twice contested the Lyttelton seat in the Coalition interests. He is a member of the Heathcoate County ’ Council, Commissioner of the WaimakarirF River Trust, on the executive of the South Island Motor Union, and fills many other positions in the public life of Canterbury. . ;• * Hi *

Watson, of Moerewa Fire Brigade, leave this week for Wanganui to attend the annual conference of the United, Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand. if * ❖ # The Hon.
