Easy Schooling At Ellerslie Today

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”l AUCKLAND, This Day. There was little fast work at Ellerslie this morning, when trainers had the use of No. 2 grass track, which provided perfect going. A few horses were also schooled over hurdles in the centre. Bronze Emerald was given an easy six furlongs, which occupied 1.23 4-5. Bonny Belle was holding British Talent, although the latter showed a lot of speed at the end of half a mile in 50 seconds. Bronze Wing came home from the five-furlong post in 1.5 4-5, the last half-mile being covered in 50 4-5 secs. Konneta and Ranier reeled off three furlongs in 37 seconds. Mai de Mer completed a round in 1.47 4-5, Royal Ace coming home with him over the last half-mile in 51 1-5 seconds, the final three furlongs taking 38 seconds. Wild Acre strode home from the five-furlong post easily in 1.10 4-5. Summary, after taking 13 1-5 seconds for her first furlong, completed half a mile in 50 4-5 seconds. Captain Bruce ran his last seven furlongs in 1.40 4-5, and the final halfmile in 56 seconds. Tea Gong strode home from the seven-furlong post in 1.38 1-5, the first half-mile being covered in 54 seconds. Marheke was going nicely while traversing five furlongs in 1.11 2-5. Ohmaha and Spinning Wheel got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.35, the last half-mile being covered in 54 2-5 seconds. Aero King completed six furlongs in 1.25 3-5, the last four furlongs taking 54 2-5 seconds. Knight of Australia traversed a round in 1.59 3-5. He increased his speed over the last half-mile, coming home from there in 55 2-5 seconds. Over the Hurdles, i Windcress, Full o' Scotch and Baldric finished as named in a schooling bout over four hurdles in the centre. Windcress completed the task in fast time. Shy was also sent over the hurdles, giving a first-class exhibition of jumping. He afterwards ran six furlongs on the grass in 1.21 1-5.
Tooley Street Injured
While at Te Aroha on Saturday night, Tooley Street was badly injfired through being kicked by Miss Appellant, and could not be started yesterday. It will be some time before he races again.
