Fire At Warkworth

F Special to “Northern Advocate ”] WARKWORTH. This Day. In the early hours of Sunday morning. a largo seven-roomed house in Hepburn Creek Road, Warkworth. occupied by Mr J. R. Bond, was destroyed by fire. Mrs Bond was awakened by the noise of the fire at about 1.30. and she aroused her husband and son. There was a considerable sum of money in the house at the time, but fortunately a large proportion of this was in cheques. The house, which was insured for £6OO, with the British Traders' Insurance Co., Ltd., was built over 50 years ago for the son of the Rev. H. McKinney, the first Presbyterian minister in Warkworth.

Price Wanted For Rowing Four.

At the executive meeting of the Whangarei Rowing Club last night the secretary was instructed to obtain a price from Now Zealand builders for a rowing four. A full field 1 of six will go to the post for both the Northland dhampionships—22o yards men and 100 yards boys. Twentythree will participate in the men’s open 100 yards, a record, while particularly strong support has been received for the boys’ junior G 6 2-3 yards, girls' junior 50 yards, and both girls’ and boys' intermediate CO 2-3 yards. The business-house relay irncn) will necessitate three heals. Other relays arc all well patronised, and in the neat dive there are 17 aspirants. The yachtsmen’s relay has drawn entries from seven different crews.
