Building Trade Artisans For N.Z.

(Received 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. More than 300 building trade artisans applied yesterday to the New Zealand Government representative, Mr J. Hodgens, M.P. (Labour, Palmerston North )for employment in New Zealand.

Mr Hodgens said that he was pleased with the response to the New Zealand Government’s advertisement calling for men, and he was delighted with the type of tradesmen who had applied. Union officials stated that Mr Hodgens would give preference to unionists. The building trade leaders said that if insufficient unionists were offering, assistance would be given Mr Hodgens in selecting other artisans.
