Mr Semple’s Itinerary In North

R, Semple and party spent Saturday morning at Kawakawa, where deputations were received from the Bay of Islands County Council, Kawakawa Town Board, School Committee, Domain Board and Chamber 0 f Commerce, the Hiku-" rang! Dairy Company and a number of codnty ratepayers. The party were the guests to luncheon, at the Junction Hotel, of the KawakaWa branch of the Labour Party, Mr R. T. Tilson, president, delivering a welcoming address. Visit To Karetu. Responding to a special invitation ' from the Maoris Mr Semple visited ‘ the Karetu Native School, near Taumarere, and about seven miles from Kawakawa. The newly completed open air school, with large bitumenised playground and tennis courts was much admired by the visiting party. , Mr Semple was welcomed by Mr Alf. Bristowe, chairman of the School i Committee, and presented with a walking stick carved by pupils. Mr C. W. Boswell, M.P., apologised ... for the non-attendance of Mr Paikea, M.P., who was unable to leave a conference in Auckland. Afternoon tea was provided at Ohaeawai, where Mr. Semple thanked the hostess, Mrs. McLelland, for her hospitality. Mr. and Mrs. Semple spent a pleasant half hour inspecting the historic Te Waimate Church and, on arrival at Paihia, several members of the party • visited the Williams Memorial Church. Later, at the Town Board office, Rus- " sell deputations discussed with Mr Semple the Waikare Road and other matters of local interest. 'On Sunday, the Ministerial party Went-for a launch trip in the Bay of Islands, and as far as Urapukapuka fishing camp. Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the Minister left Russell via Opua, and arrived at the Kaeo Hotel, making a launch trip on the Whangaroa Harbour in the afternoon. Tuesday morning has been set aside for deputations from the Whangaroa County Council. Leaving Kaeo at 1.30 p.m., the Minister will open the Mangonui wharf- at 2.30 p.m., and at 4 p.m. will leave for Awanui, inspecting works en route and staying at the Awanui Hotel.
