A full programme has been , arranged for the campaign this week. A farmers’ progressive tennis tournament is: being held on the Mairtown Tennis Club’s, courts today, and the girls’ handicaps of High School swimming sports took place at the primary school baths this afternoon. Aquatics at Town Wharf.
Tonight the swimming, rowing and cruising clubs of Whangarei are combining in a joint aquatic programme at the Town Wharf basin, commencing at 6.30 p.m. Novelty events will take pride of place, while the Municipal Band will be in attendance. Rev. A. F. T. Sanft, of Hikurangi, will lead community singing, for which Mrs Print, well-known in Whangarei musical circles as Miss Scylla Oaikin, will act as piano accompanist. Boys of the High School will take part in swimming at the baths tomorrow afternoon, commencing at 1.30. A progressive tennis tournament is to commence on the Bargain Store club's courts at 7 p.m., the courts being flood-lit for the purpose. . Badminton and Table Tennis.
At 8 o’clock the Whangarei Badminton Club will present a series of exhibition games in the town hall in conjunction with a table tennis exhibition.
Badminton is a comparatively new sport in Whangarei, and this is a golden opportunity for the public to see how the gam'' is played, while the table tennis is also guaranteed to give first-class thrills in a number of swiftmoving games.
