A GOOD CAUSE. At Adelaide recently, a trotting meeting was held in aid of the Bushfires Fund. A sum of over £ISOO was collected for this worthy cause.

STILL ABLE TO SPRINT. Airing seems to have taken a new lease of life. His win at Opunakc, followed by a second at Hawera, shows that the Cockpit gelding is still able to sprint. EARLY TRENTIIAM FANCY. Coronation is is early Manawalu fancy for the long distance classic 'at Tr’ontham. Herbert Gaisford’s colt will have his say in the richly-endowed Hack Cup at To Rapa on Monday.

C.3.C. MEMBERS. The limit of membership of the Canterbury Jockey Club is 650, and at the general meeting on March 7 next th(jre will be sufficient candidates to complete the club’s list of new members and necessitate a waiting list for the following term. 1 TRACK RECORDS. Thermidor put up a track record when she won the Dunedin Jockey Club Handicap in 2.12 3^-5. The previous record was held- by Last Refrain at 2.13 4-5. Recollection also put up a track record when he won the Owhiro Hurdles in 2.41 3-5. The previous best was 2.43 I*s, put up by Arctic Star in 1935, LOSS OF FORM. Willie Win is doing duty as a hack these days. Though he has been placed. Willie Win has failed to win a race so far this season. Since he was the runner-up to The Trump in the Melbourne Cup two years ago, Willie Win has never returned to his best form, although he has locked well enough to win good races.
