Britain And The League

(Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, February 17. In the absence of denunciation, the next period of five years for which the general Act for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes runs will begin on August IG. In a letter to the Secretary-General of the League of Nations, M. Joseph Avenol, Britain intimated that she will continue after that date to participate in the Act subject to the reservation that, as from that date, the participation of Britain will not apply should she unfortunately find herself involved in hostilities over disputes arising out of events occurring during war. This reservation applies to the procedure of conciliation. A message from Geneva states that France, New Zealand and India have advised the League in similar terms.
