Erratic Movements On ’Change

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day.

Price movements were rather erratic on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning. , There was a moderate turnover at the final call of the week. Insurance shares maintained their firming trend, New Zealand selling at a rise of 3d, while South British were quoted higher between £2 4/3 and £2,5/-. Government stocks were definitely easier, the rising trend of the past month receiving its first check. The only sale was in 4 per cent. 1946-49’s, which were 5/- down. Other issues, with the exception of 43-46’s, which were stronger, showed a similar easing.

Some Australian industrials improved, Broken Hill Proprietary and Australian Glass having better buyers at £2 17/6 and £5 14/- respectively. Metal shares, however, were slack. Among local industrials, Radios were between 17/- and £l, while Reid Rubbers showed a further advance with quotations from £ 1 4/- to £ 1 6/-.
