WEDDING of interest took place at the bride's home on Saturday evening,, when Noreen, younger daughter of Mrs C. Knowles, of Norfolk Street, and the late Mr Knowles, was married by the Rev. Wm. Elliott to, Allan Brierley, of Leicester, England.- The -bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr W. Knowles, chose a slim-fittiii'g gown of ivory lace over satin. Her short tulle veil fell from an orange blossom coronet. She carried a double-ended sheath of . Christmas lilies and white carnations. Attending the bride as matron of honour was her sister. Mrs K. Haslott; who was wearing an apple green crinkle crepe frock cut on simple lines, and on her head she wore a flowered coronet in green and autumn tonings which, also featured in her bouquet. Three tiny flower girls, Aileen Haslett, Patricia Knowles and Margaret Harroway. completed the bridal retinue, all wearing anklelength Empire frocks of apple green net, with autumn coloured flowers as coronets and posies. on the lawn, Mrs Knowles received her guests in a black and white marocain frock, with a matching Ballibuntal straw hat and she carried a bouquet of led carnations. The bride’s travelling suit was of Marina blue woollen georgette, with a large stitched London tan taffeta hat.

Mrs Tony Chapman, of Auckland, who is staying with Mrs Cecil C. Tills, of Kamo, was the guest of honour at a very enjoyable party given by Mrs A. H. Crane at her home out at Ngararatunua on Monday afternoon. Blue hydrangeas were charmingly arranged in the drawing room, and the hostesslooked very smart in a frock of maroon spotted marocain. Some of her guests were Mesdames L. G. Bennett, W. J. Glanviile, John G. Robertson, Dennis Herdman, G. M. Robertson and C. C. Tills.

Mrs H. A. Good was another hostess this week, when she entertained with both mah jongg and bridge on Wednesday evening. Bowls of multicoloured zinnias made the rooms look gay, and some of those there were Mesdames J. A. S. Mac Kay, D. O’Donoghue, T. Mitchell, J. W. Hall, Spencer Day, J. G. Campbell, E. J. Park.es.

Short trips here and there seem to be the vogue this week. Mrs D. J. Goodwin spent a few days “doing” the city, while Marion Prebble, who hails from Three Mile Bush, left today for Waiheke.

Sister Murray, of the Whaftgarei Hospital, left for Wellington, where she is to study for her tutor-sister-ship.

Dorothy Steele, who has been spending the past few weeks in. Rotorua is now home again.

Mrs Harold Cotter left on Wednesday for a holiday in Auckland, .and another who is visiting there is Muriel Millington.
