Low-Backed Court Gowns Are Banned

(Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 27,

Among the first duties of the King and Queen after their return from Sandringham next week will be to approve four designs for models of dresses for the coming Courts, says the “Daily Mail.” . f About 30 drawings will bevsubmitted and will be scrutinised by the King and Queen jointly, the King aproving the final choice after which the designs will be sent to West End and Paris designers.

It is understood that last year, a number of dresses with the over-low neckline ' aroused official displeasure. Unofficial instructions have already l)een given that greater attention must be paid to major details, such as the length of the train and the neckline, while low backed court gowns are especially restricted. Designers welcome the restrictions, but admit their clients have their own views.
