No Help For Reds, Says Quebec Premier
(Received 1.30 p.m.) QUEBEQ, January 27. The Premier, Mr Duplessis, challenged the Dominion Government to explain why “passports were issued to 1200 Canadians who went to fight the Communists in Spain, and by what authority did the Government permit the recognised leader of the Canadian Communists, Tim. Buck, to visit his Communist brethren in Spain and return to Canada to continue his nefarious battle against the established order and democrat traditions so dear to us." The challenge is included in a letter to Wilfrid Lacroix, a member of the House of Commons, who proposes that Canada forbids the despatch of Communistic literature through the mails.
