Bowling Hopes For Monday Reviewed

All the Northern followers of Sir Francis Drake will be doing battle on the Whangarei and Kensington greens on Monday for the coveted Campbell Cup. Several Auckland teams have entered, and after their play in the New Zealand championships last week, .their displays will be watched with interest. The following should go well in their respective heats:— Piggott Looks Likely. Section I: This is a very open section, with some good teams entered. Piggott, with the assistance of his old stalwarts, “Morry” and “Bill,” but with a new lead, should, go close to qualifying, and Barnard, after his Dargaville performance, should also go close. James, of Cambridge, is an unknown starter, but should be dangerous. The others are liable to pay a hatful if they should happen to win.

An Open Issue.

hi section 11, the issue looks very open. With Wood, of Cambridge, the unknown dark horse, Morris, of Dargaville, has a good, sound, team, while “Albert” and his stalwarts are liable to bob up at any time. Everett and Cox help make up the field and will help keep the issue in doubt up to the : last round. In section 111, Kelly, after his play in the Dominion championships, should go well, but we don’t expect him to repeat his performance of last year. Miller, Orr and Vodanovitch should fight out a close finish. Interesting Section. In section IV, Stark, of Hikurangi, is expected to go close with our “Harry” to help. Jones, of Ellerslie, and Wilson, of Helensville, can turn out the goods, and with Brewis and Gribble, of local fame, should provide an interesting section. Section V: Whitelaw, after his Auckland display, will go out favourite, but they often get beaten, and either Greville, of Dargaville, or Hynes, of Hamilton, may be the ones, with Cox, Stanaway and Scott, to make it interesting.

Summing up, Barnard, Wood, Miller, Stark and Greville are liable to win their sections, with Stark and Greville to fight out the final with Stark the favourite.
