Candidate For Geneva Trip Withdraws

WELLINGTON, This Day. It is announced by Mr P. M. Butler, of Wellington, who was nominated by a number of unions and trade councils to contest the ballot for the workers’ representative to attend the International Labour Office Conference at Geneva, that he has withdrawn. Mr Butler stated yesterday that the ballot paper containing the names of live nominated candidates had been sent to. unions by the Department of Labour prior to the voting by the trades council, in which Mr J. Roberts, of Christchurch, was successful, thus becoming the official candidate. Mr Butler has asked the unions to strike his „ name off the ballot paper and support .Mr Roberts.
