H. Rowe Wins Kaitaia Rifle Club Shoot

Under difficult conditions a championship shoot was held by the Kailaia Defence Rifle Club over 800 and 900 yards last week-end. A special handicap prize was won by A. G. Head, with a gross score of 96.

Scoring generally was well below the usual standard, but this must be attributed to the poor conditions prevailing. A changeable head wind caused the most difficult conditions yet experienced on the range. The competition resulted: —H. Rowe, 44 at 800yds, 42 at 900yds. total 86; A. G. Head, 43, 41. 84; E. A. Many Visitors This Week-end

The coming week-end will see Kaitaia club visited by 25 shooters representing Auckland City, Akarana, Whangarci, Omana and Unatokc clubs. * Shooting will commence at 8 a.m. on Sunday and the competition will bo staged over five ranges from 300 to 900 yards.

Trophies have been donated for the shoot through the courtesy of Messrs C. Bowman, E, Johns and Worth and Weber, while the Peanut Bowl, donated by Mr E. R. Torrie, has been presented for the highest aggregate.
