Lifeless Bidding on Stock Exchange

Bidding was lifeless for all classes of securities, except Government stocks, on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning. The only sales were in Bank of New Zealands and Auckland Gas, both at lower values. Buyers offered firm rates for all Government stocks and raised their bids slightly for most of the 3& per cent, issues.. There was only one seller on the market. '

Activity in New Zealands was the feature of the banking section, four parcels changing hands at £1 9/3. A buyer came in at £2 6/- for nationals and holders dropped their limit to £2 8/-, though they were selling a week ago 6d higher. Insurances were steady. Among Australian industrials, metal snares were marked down, Mt. Lyells being quoted between £1 4/6 and £1 8/-, and Electrolytic Zincs between £2 5/- and £2 7/3. Mt. Morgans were comparatively steady with a market oi 10A- to 10/4.

Sales completed at the noon call today were: Commercial Bank of Sydney. £2l; Bank of New South Wales, £3l; Bank of New Zealand, £1 19/3; New Zealand Breweries, £2 0/9; Woolworths (New Zealand), 18/-.
