40 Teams in Whangarei Bowling Tournament
It is anticipated that 160 players Will take part in the annual full-rinks tournament of the Whangarei Bowl* ing Club, to bd held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Entries this year are more representative than ever before. The fixture will be held concurrent with the annual tournament of the Whangarei Croquet Club, The tournament is for the Campbell Rose Bowl, now held by Balmoral, Auckland. Trophies for the winning team are valued at £lB/10/-, and those for the runners-up at £B/10-'-. Many Visiting Rinks. In all, 40 entries have been received, including one rink . from Stratford, two from Cambridge, two from Hamilton, two from Te Aroha, one from Ellerslie, Auckland; one from Balmoral. Auckland; four from Kaitnin; four from Dargaville. and two from HolensvillO. ’ Hikurangi Club is sending four rinks, and Kensington is sending a similar number, the balance consisting of Whangarei players. Dominion Title Contestants. kelly’s team, Balmoral, who participated in the Dominion champion-
ships, will be defending their title to the Rose Bowl. Numbers of the other players to be engaged also took part in the New Zealand championships. The draw will be ouf to-morrow. Play will be in five sections of eight teams each, and the Kensington greens are to be utilised for one section. Matches will be of 21 heads, with a time limit of two and a-half hours per $ game. It is anticipated that the tournament will be finalised next Wednesday.
