I * f MARBLE CAKE " 1 (Sent ill by Kilfla Webb, pfikleigh) t 1 heaped cup flour. | 1 teacup sugar. | 3 tablespoons butter, f 3 tablespoons milk. „ | 3 eggs.' I 1 teaspoon baking powder. I Colouring. i Cream butter and sugar, add eggs « well beaten, milk then flour and | baking powder previously mixed. | Divide into three parts. Colour t one with cochineal, one with | cocoa and leave third plain. Put I alternate spoonfuls in a greased ! cake tin and bake threequarters s of an hour in a moderate oven. 1 j POTATO AND RICE CAKES I j (Sent in by Josie Erceg, [ Kauri Flat, Waipapakauri). s I-: ( • I Mashed potatoes. \ Boiled rice. Butter. I Flour. Salt. Pepper, i Cayenne. 1 egg. | Take the mashed potatoes, add $ about half as much boiled rice, • mix together with a little butter, f and season with papper, salt and | cayenne. Roll out on a floured * board about 1} inches thick and | cut into squares. Brush over i with beaten egg and bake in a fast I oven.
