Swimming Club Resumes Activities
There was a good attendance of members at the Whangarei Swimming Club’s ninth club night last week, when the, usual instruction to juniors was carried out as well as competitions in the various classes. Members do not seem to have settled down to earnest work since the holidays. Recent Racing. Details of events are as follows: — Girls, junior, 66 2-3yds: Miss R. Beale, 1 (only starter). Time, 56 2-ss. Boys, junior, 66 2-3yds: O. Haigh, 1 (only starter). Time, 635. Girls, intermediate, 66 2-3yds; Miss P. Beale, ss, 1; Miss V. Cayanajgh, scr, 2. Won by two feet. Only starters. Time, 59 l-ss.
Boys, intermediate, 100yds: L. Mortimore, scr, 1; R, Muir, Is, 2; D. Redwood, Bs, 3. Won by a yard, with’a yard back to third. Only starters. Time, 71s,
Men’s 100yds.—First heat: T. Dobson, 6s, 1; D. Haigh, 3s, 2; L. Stockwell, 11s, 3. Won by two feet each way. Also started, F. Collins, 6s, L. Vincent, Bs. Time, 725. Second heat: J. Howie, 6s, 1; R. Nicholls, 10s, 2: K. Prpvan, 6s, 3. Won by four feet and one foot. Also started, D. Fairley, 2s, H. Fidler, 4s, A. Larcombe, ss. Time, 68s. Final: R. Nicholls, 10s, 1; A. Larcombe, ss, 2; K.
