LONDON, January 21
Continuous bombing raids on Barcelona and its' environs are reported from that city. Forty-five people were killed and 70 wounded in these attacks.
The Republicans admit that their troops are retreating along the entire Catalonian front, says Reuter’s Barcelona correspondent. *-»s the result of a lightning advance for eight miles, General Franco’s Navarrese division captured Villa-franca del Panades, 19 miles and now threatens Manresa, the centre point of the Republicans’ last line of defence.
A message from Perpignan, France, states that 27 waggons full of French wheat and flour for the Republicans—the first consignment since the Government’s decision to send 45,000 tons — crossed the frontier. Further consignments are being speeded up.
