•JtHE k oc jy of a we ii.known Master- , ton resident, Mr Alfred Rippon, was found in the Oddfellows’ Hall at Masterton on Saturday afternoon with his head in a gas oven. Mr Rippon was formerly a borough councillor. An unnamed Italian journalist, said to be a relative of Count Ciano, was arrested at' Tunis and charged with espionage. He was arrested when photographing in a forbidden zone, says the Independent Cable Service.
