“N.Z. Has Cause To Worry About Japan”
-LORD STRABOLCI
(Per Press Association. Copyrigh t'.] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. “As a part of the British Empire and as a Pacific country, New Zealand certainly has need to worry about Japan’s possible aggression,” said Lord Strabolgi last night. “The forward school of Japanese militarists make no secret of their aim. Summed up In two words this is ‘world domination’.” Lord Strabolgi said that if Japan succeeded in China, then, when she recovered, she would be a formidable menace. Why Rebuff Russia? Fortunately, there was Russia, of whom the Japanese were very properly afraid. As long as Russia was strong and friendly to the British Empire she could hold the Japanese in check.
One of the extraordinary mysteries of the high policy of the present Government in London was the manner in which it seemed to go out of its way to rebuff Russia.
Another mystery was why the Governrnont was allowing FascisKPowers to 'establish themselves in Spain, right on our Mediterranean and Atlantic trade routes.
