Arrested Britishers Visited In Prison

(Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, January 11. Information received tonight states that Mr C. D. Jerram, British Agent at Burgos, visited the British ViceConsul at San Sebastian, Mr E. Golding, who has been arrested by the Burgos authorities in connection with the discovery of incriminating papers in the British consular bag. i He saw Mr Golding in the Ondaretta Prison, and Mrs Golding and Senora Lagarde, a clerk in the San Sebastian Vice-Consulate, who are in a women’s hostel used for female prisoners. They stated that they had no complaints to make of their treatment while under detention. An answer is still awaited to the written' communication Mr Jerram delivei’ed to Burgos, asking to be informed of the charges and evidence upon which Mr and Mrs Golding are detained.
