Whangarei Free From Holiday Mishap

The fact that during the holiday period no road accidents had occurred in Whangarei borough was favourably commented on by the borough inspector, Mr J. H. Ashton, this morning. “It is a very satisfactory state of affairs,'’ said Mr Ashton. “Traffic in the town has been particularly heavy this year, in view of the large number of visiting motorists, but the behavious. of drivers i's the best I have ever seen, and a big improvement on that of previous Christmas holidays. Exemplary Behaviour “Both in their manner of driving and in parking, motorists within the borough were exemplary in behaviour, and there was no excessive speeding,” On the highways, too, said Mr Ashton, .he had noticed an improved standard of driving. On one'occasion when driving between Auckland and Whangarei- -in particularly heavy traffic, he had not noticed a single case of speeding. / / , . ' . ' ,
