Fortification Of Aland Islands In Baltic
(Received 9 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, January 9.
Sweden and Finland have reached an agreement for limited remilitarisation of the Aland Islands, in the Baltic Sea, including fortifications, and the conscription of the islanders. The plan will be submitted to the League Council in May. The two nations fear the seizure of the islands, which are Finnish territory, by a stronger Power. They were demilitarised under the Ten-Power Convention of 1921, to which Russia is not a party.
