In Us Sheffield Shield match against Queensland today. New South Wales, which made 214 in its first innings, scored in the second innings 264 (Barnes 51, McCaffrey 40, Gulliver 40, James 42). Ellis took five wickets for 67. Queensland, with a first innings score of 200, has in its second innings made 112 without loss (Brown not out 78, Cook not out 30). The 22-year-old Queensland wicketkeeper, Don Talon, equalled the world’s first-class record by batsmen by either stumping or catching six in each innings. The former record-holder was E. Pooley, who performed this feat when playing for Surrey against, Sussex at the Oval in 1868. At Melbourne, after making 499 in its first innings, against South Australia, Victoria declared in the second innings witli seven wickets down for 283 (Lee 51, Barnett 54, Hasestt 64. Sides 61). Ward took five wickets for 126. South Australia, which in its first innigs made 488, had lost none for 50 in the second. Victoria won on the first innings. j
