(Received 1.30 p.m.) EDMONTON, January 3
The Social Credit Government of Alberta, led by Mr W. -Aberh'ardt, defaulted by 1.000,000 dollars on debentures due on January 1. Interest was offered at 2£ per cent instead of 5 per cent.
This was not accepted by the bondholders, who plan to request the Dominion Government, at Ottawa, to insist on payment.
