Unique Trophies for Kensington Bowlers

Bowls

The Kensington Bowling Club is getting away from the usual cups as trophies for its 1939 tournament. The president of the club, Mr E. G. W. Tibbits, this morning showed the new trophies to be competed for. They are round black shields, mounted with silver, the design including an arrangement of three gilded half-bowls. The trophies were designed in Australia and were supplied by a Whangarei jeweller. A large shield is the prize for the winner, and the runner-up’s trophy is a smaller shield similarly designed.
