Remarkable Enterprise Recalled By Abbot’s Death

LONDON, December 27. The Right Rev. Don Anscar Vonier, Abbot of Buckfast, Devon, whose name will always be associated with the remarkable enterprise by which the abbey church was built on its old foundations at Buckfast by the monks themselves over a period of 30 years, died in his sleep last night. Only a few weeks ago the tower of the abbey church, which was reconsecrated in 1932 by Cardinal Bourne, was completed, to the delight of the abbot, who saw his 32-year-old dream realised.
