Methodist Sunday School Prize-Giving

A cheery breaking-up function for the Methodist Sunday School was held in the Church hall on Saturday evening. Proceedings took the form of a Christmas tree, games, and a prizegiving, while a play, written by Mr F. W. Reed, was presented. Those taking part were Kathleen Cotterill, Joan Plaisted, Kathleen Hirons, Peggy Cotterill, Joy Bisset, and Miss Vera Hirons, Ron and Brian Lawrence. Des Farrell and Bill Flavell. One of the features of the evening was Santa Claus resplendent in his season garb, and the Christmas tree, gaily decorated with balloons and toys. The prizes for the year were presented by'Miss D. Mutton (primary), and Mrs H. J. Tozer (senior). The first prize was received by Coral Connelly.

During the evening, a presentation was made to Mrs Cummack, who has been a teacher in the school for almost 12 months. Her four children, belonging to the Sunday School and the Bible Classes respectively, also received books. Mrs W. Hills, in making the presentation, said how much the family would be missed and wished them all the best of luck and happiness in Cambridge. Mrs Cummack responded. The evening concluded with a delicious supper.
