Land’s End Outward Bound

After spending several days at Opua, the South African ketch-rigged yacht, Land’s End, arrived at Russell shortly before noon on Wednesday. A farewell party was held in the spacious saloon in the afternoon, when a number of friends congregated to bid “An Revoir” to Captain and Mrs. Jeffrey. Among those present were Captain W. Knowles, of London, and Messrs. M. Close, F. Williamson and L. Wallace, of the Auckland keeler Dorothy. Leaves Under Power The Land’s End left Russell wharf under power shortly after 5 p.m. for Captain Jeffrey’s home, Port Durban, via Tonga. Full sail was being set to a good following wind as the Land’s End rounded Russell Point and when last seen she was making good headway, outward bound.
