Sharks and Stingrays.

Torn nets and cut lines tell a tale of destruction caused to the gear of Napier fishermen by large sharks and stingrays. The warmer weather has brought these fish in from the deeper water and they are particularly prevalent in Hawke’s Bay at present. Most of the sharks caught have been of a harmless nature, but they have been responsible for considerable damage to the nets and lines of the trawling fleet.
