Rawene Organises Christmas Carnival
In an effort to induce residents of the surrounding district to visit and shop in Rawene on Christmas Eve, the business people have decfded to hold a gala night. The town will be gaily decorated with bunting and streamers, and a variety programme of hakas, tugs-of-war and various other entertainments will be arranged. The Kaikohe Brass Band has been requisitioned for the afternoon and evening, and a special picture programme will be shown at the theatre at night with a free matinee for children in the afternoon. Santa Claus will be in the town to cater for the amusements and requirements of the younger folk. This is the first occasion on which a carnival has been organised in the district, and it is hoped that the locdl purchasing public will avail themselves of the services at their disposal by the business people of Rawene,
