Rangitata Theft Unsolved

[Special to “Northern Advocate’’] AUCKLAND, This Day. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rangitata sailed at 7.25 yesterday morning for London via Panama, without any trace being found by the police of the money stolen from the captain’s safe last week-end. Thursday’s thorough search of the vessel by a large party of detectives and constables failed to reveal even a single bank note of the roll of £I6OO which was removed so mysteriously from the safe. Detectives were engaged on the ship investigating the robbery right up until the time of departure yesterday morning. When the Rangitata arrives in London, a new search will be made by detectives from Scotland Yard, who will no doubt carefully examine all cargo stowed in the holds of tlie ship before and after the robberv.
