Italians Given Food For Thought
(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 15. “The Times” Rome correspondent says .the real sense of Mr Chamberlain’s speech at the Foreign Press Association dinner slips out in today’s press comments. Evidently, with M. Bonnet’s declaration yesterday that France would not concede an inch of her colonial empire, it has provided food for thought. It is believed Signor Mussolini' will continue silent, leaving the matter to be ventilated during Mr Chamberlain’s visit. The utility of the press campaign is apparent, since it has elicited important statements on the Mediterranean from Britain and Franco, without committing Italy.
