(Received 10 a.m.)
SINGAPORE, December 14

Bartholomew, general officer commanding the British forces in China, who is going to England. “If Marshal Chiang Kai-shek continues to draw the Japanese armies inland, they will find it increasingly difficult to maintain their communications,” said General Bartholomew. “Japan cannot afford indefinitely to keep a large standing army in China. Japan will never win while Chiang Kai-shek is at the head of the Chinese Government.”
