Off-Morning At Ellerslie

Late Sporting

[Special to “Northern Advocate ” 3 AUCKLAND, This Day.

It was an ofT-morning at Eilerslie, but No, 3 grass track was open, and some gorges that galloped yesterday were sprinted. The first to work were Jack Tar and Surella, who were sent five furlongs. The former got a couple of lengths advantage at the start, and held his lead to the finish, running the distance in 1.2 4-5. The first two furlqngs took 25 2-5 seconds, and both horses impressed. Royal Abb had GamOvS as a companion over six furlongs, run in 1.15 2-5. Games got the better of the start, and Royal Abb went out very wide at the homo turn. He was practically up with Games at the finish, after running the last half-mile in 511-5 seconds.

Padishah was out doing useful work over a round on the tan. He is looking exceptionally well, and is in better condition than when ho was here at this period last season. Coil was also exercised on the same track. The arrivals this morning included P. Davis’s team, consisting of Courtcraft, Coronation, Porn, Silver Stick and Lutanist.
