Northland Seeks Centennial Organiser
A full-time organiser is to be appointed by the Northland Zone A Centennial comrpittee executive. At the executive meeting last night, the necessity for such an appointment was stressed. Not only was the pressure of work on present organisers becoming very great, but the need was felt for the working up of Centennial enthusiasm and for co-ordination of activities. In these respects a paid organiser was considered indispensable.
“We must get right into the job now, or it will be too late,” remarked Mr H. T. Atkinson (Bay of Islands). “The main job of an organiser now would be to stir up enthusiasm.” “Get the Right Man.”
“The big thing is to get the right man,” commented Mr W. Jones. “I don’t see ,how we can carry on without an organiser. We really want something done to get full co-ordina-tion.”
Other members spoke in similar vein, and it was left in the hands of the chairman, deputy-chairman, secretary and treasurer to finalise the appointment. It was stated by Mr Jones that £9OO was held in reserve for this and other expenses.
